The son of John and Helen Agelasto, Cyril John Agelasto was promoted to Temporary Second Lieutenant (on probation), for duty with the Royal Flying Corps on 5 August 1916 and was confirmed in his rank on 8 August 1917, with seniority from 17 June 1917. He was promoted to Temporary Lieutenant on 4 February 1918. Lieutenant (Observer Officer) Agelasto was promoted to Lieutenant (A. and S.) on 1 June 1918.
