The son of James D. and Ida L. Latimer, Dennis Latimer was a Bristol Fighter pilot and the highest scoring ace in 20 Squadron. He shot down 28 enemy aircraft between March and August of 1918. On 22 August he and his observer, Lieutenant T.C. Noel, were shot down near Westroosebeke by a member of Jasta 7. Latimer was captured, Noel was killed.
1901 Wales Census lists the family residence as Towyn, Merionethshire, Wales; the father was a hotel proprietor at Towyn. Dennis Latimer's birth was registered in 4th quarter 1895 at Oswestry. |
