After scoring one victory, Weiner was injured in an accident on 24 June 1917 but recovered and scored 8 more victories by the end of the war. On 16 September 1918, he shot down a D.H.4 flown by Lt. William E. Johns. Johns, who was captured, later became famous as an author of childrens books. He is probably best remembered for the creation of "Biggles," the fictional WWI hero.
During World War II, Weiner served in the Luftwaffe and attained the rank of Major General.
