On 30 January 1912, Giovanni Sabelli received his pilot's license from the Royal Aero Club at Brooklands, England. He is believed to have helped Bulgaria form an air service in 1912 during its war with Turkey. On 9 May 1917, he joined 91a where he scored five victories before he was shot down in flames by a two-seater.
