Description:

These are all rare documents from the former RAE Library, Farnborough, digitised to disc. We (Hampshire County Libraries) are currently conducting another digitising project with Cranfield University, FAST, and Akron Library Ohio, to digitise all 3 vols. of the German 'Technische Berichte' from 1918-1919 and their associated very detailed English language abstracts, and hope that sales of this 'engines' CD-ROM will fund further digitising projects to widen the access to other very rare documents in our aviation collection.
This collection is digitised at 300 dpi in pdf format.
Piston Aero-Engines of the Great War
CD-Rom
Hampshire Libraries are pleased to announce the issue of a CD-Rom 2-disk set covering rare technical manuals and reports from the First World War.
A must-have resource for all aviation historians, modellers, replica builders and conservators, or pilots of vintage aircraft!
An amazing collection of original aero engine manuals and reports, some not published for over 50 years, from the combat aircraft that flew in the Great War and just after - British, French, German, Italian and Austrian. The disks give detailed engineering drawings, photographs, performance data and maintenance instructions - all in English - including those of captured German aero engines such as the high altitude overcompressed Mercedes and BMW, and famous Allied engines such as the Hispano-Suiza and RAF types. Format of files is pdf, which open in Adobe Acrobat.
The 2-disk set contains 22 individual documents - see full listing below
Available for sale at Farnborough Library, Aldershot Library, Winchester Discovery Centre or Gosport Discovery Centre, or by ordering via our Online Shop from 15th Dec: http://www.hants.gov.uk/shop/product.php?productid=16419&cat=0&page=1
