This Jamboree was one really excellent show--some of the fine models there were the ones from our own DJ with his Siemens Schuckert D.IIIs and Albatros D.III, Nick Ziroli's fine Spirit of St. Louis and a whole slew of Fokker Dr.Is and Sopwith Pups...typical fly-in fare these days. The weather couldn't have been better, with pleasant breezes and non-stop sunshine.

36 hours after the last model landed, our whole world changed.

This fantastic event has become something from another time, in a surrealistic way. *The closest parallel I can think of is the summer of 1914, which was one of the nicest times that Europeans had enjoyed before "the War to end all Wars" began.

Here's to hoping for better times again---
