I do not see why lorraine and alsace are two different entity and were so even from 70 to 18. during that period the region (the whole of alsace and a part of lorraine) was known as imperila land of alsace lorraine (Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen) it was divided in 3 region (that match the french departement) one of them was lorraine (moselle departement in france) the two other hight and low alsace (in france it is high and low rhine). so if a palce was in lorraine then it is in lorraine today and the reciproque. rhe only difference is the name betwen 1871 and 1918 the name of place should have been germanised.
