All Fokker E-series monoplanes employed wing-warping for lateral control. Front spar of the wing was rigidly braced by three cables above and below each wing; rear spar was pulled up or down according to direction of bank by corresponding cables connected to a lever/crank pivoting within a bearing fitted at the rear of the undercarriage assembly, the upper cables being led over a pulley at the apex of the upper bracing pylon.

But a picture is worth a thousand words, for sure. Just reprinted is 'Fokker E.III' by P.M.Grosz. It's Windsock Datafile No.15, ISBN 0-948414-19-7. All you ever wanted to know about the beastie, with splendid pictures and 1:72 and 1:48 drawings. Thoroughly recommended.

Cheers!

Simba.
