Errol,
The date of his death is given as March 25, 1943, supposedly in a P-40. I had a friend of mine search the aircraft accident reports, and he was unable to find anything. Recently, on this forum, in a post about H Weir Cook, it was suggested that he was actually flying a P-39. I passed that information to my friend, but have not yet heard back from him about that possibility. I did find a reference in the New York Times, of Monday March 29, 1943, a short note datelined March 28, Indianapolis, saying that he had died Thursday, in the South Pacific war area from injuries suffered in a plane accident. Now I am wondering if the date could be the 26th, because of the International Date line. Have to find the accident report, I guess.

Frank.
