I believe that the M5L (lang) is the two-seater in question. These had longer wingspans and were unarmed except for some examples being fitted in the field with a Mauser semi-automatic rifle on the wing-warping tower. The type also had small viewing areas in the fuselage for the pilot and observer to look down through. These were used during 1914 into 1915. One of these type has been well photographed and had the name "Sumpfhuhn" painted on the side. They were powered with the 7 cylinder 80 h.p. Oberursel UO engine.
