When the production authorization to build new replacement wing on 24 September 1918, replacement wings began to arrived at the Army Air parks in early October 1918 and On 8 October the first D.VIII was accepted. It had been decided by Idflieg to redesignated the Fok. E.V the Fok.D.VIII, in order to restore the pilots faith in the "new" machine.
By 11 November, wings had been installed on 80 Fok. D.VIII machines at the Army Air Parks holding Fok.E.V machines in store. A few in Fok.D.VIII machines had been re-issued the various Jasta. There are no known units to have been issued the Fok.D.VIII , whether with replacement wings, or new production aircraft.
