The Albatros Werke did not stain the Alb D.I through D.Va, they were shellacked and varnished. From as much as I found in my studies, Albatros only used stain on the fuselages on the Alb.D.XI and C.XV and possibly the Alb.J.I.

P.S. Would someone please translate the German word "rutlich" as it applies to the stain "violett rutlich". I cannot find the word in my German dictionaries.
