Hi Dan-San,
I often wondered if there were actual searches for the destroyed aircraft. I doubted it in the past, as I would think that the German Army would be too busy (or didn't care enough) to go to all that trouble just to make a pilot happy and confirm his victory. The dual confirmation system probably sufficed.
