To answer my own question, my lovely little wifey bought me Roy Grinnel's art print that depicts George Vaughn downing a yellow nosed Pfalz DIII for his first victory, which he chased way over German lines without permission. George signed it, too! I've also got a bunch of letters from him and an autographed photo, so I'll combine the whole lot and have it professionally framed for roughly the price of a new Ferrari.
Also got about 15 video documentaries on WWII.

Stephen:
I received a static 1/48 scale plastic kit of a (DML) Fokker Dr-1, complete with a photo-etched brass detail set. I guess my free time will be filled for a while, because I am cleaning up my airbrush as we speak. Does anyone know how to reproduce the appearence of a fabric finish on a plastic wing?
Oh, I also got a new Canon BJC-4400 bubble-jet printer. I had beaten to death my old BJ-200e last summer, so it was a welcome addition.
Happy New Year, all!

Bill.

Of all the things I got this Christmas, none were related to flying....well, one could have been, if we'd been in an airplane, we could have joined the mile-high club.

Wish I'd have got what Al got. I got nothing related to WWI aviation. Did get a Rex Applegate book and a W.E. Fairbairn book though.

Al...only if your airplane had been 5,280 feet above mean sea level!
Since I was born on the 24th, it's not always easy to tell what's Christmas and what's birthday. A coupla shirts, a Cape Buff wallet (without ballistic lining), the G Gordon Liddy "Stacked & Packed" '99 calendar (hoo-boy), and a beautiful color photo book on Old West memorabilia. Joe Foss fed me his famous oyster chowder for dinner. Otherwise, nothing aviation, so I used the gift certificate from my local Spitfire ace to pick up a copy of Dr. Robinson's "The Zeppelin in Combat."
Now 50 and learning to deal with it...

Barrett, of course we'd have to be at least that high.
Speaking of flying, a question just poped into my head that maybe you might know the answer too.
At Pearl Harbor there was a team of P40 pilots, Taylor and Welch. They had some decent luck among the Japanese raiders that morning, but there weren't enough of them to go around.
I know that Welch later ended the war with 16 kills, but what ever happened to Taylor? Do you have any idea??
Thanks,
Al Lowe,
NOT looking forward to turning 43 next month.

Belated Birthday Greetings, young fella.
Since my next birthday will be what used to be the legal speed limit, I offer myself and my additional years of experience any time you feel lost or confused.
Ahh, how I miss my youth.
Ahh, how I misspent my youth.
Mike
