I came across this tidbit of information that I thought the Eddie Rickenbacker fans would be interested in hearing about. Apparently, when he came home a bunch of Detroit car manufacturers backed him up in setting up his own car company and it was a one of the smoothest running vehicles on the road. In 1927 huge losses forced him to close the doors and the car designs were sold to a German manufacturer. Audi!

The Rickenbacker auto was built in Detroit from 1922-1927 and featured as its emble m the hat in ring logo. It was of the first companies to offer 4 wheel brakes on its products. The company was badly hirt by other manufacurers who stated that the 4 wheel brakes were unsafe. Total production of the marque is estimated at around 34,500. Production ceased in February 1927.
