Question;
Has anyone seen the documentary video simply called " The Red Baron" ?
I can purchase it from a company called Belle & Blade for $19.98, but don't want to waste my time looking forward to getting it in the mail if its not worth getting!
I believe the video cover depicts a triplane flying off into either the dawn or sunset.

Thanks

Hi C,

I have the documentary you're talking about, a friend of mine got it through Sporty's Aviation.
While it doesn't contain any new footage, it has some interesting interviews with some surviving
Allied pilots that fought against MvR. It's valid in its own right and worth having if you're a buff.

Biography also offers a one hour tape on the life of MvR for that same $19.98. It's also worth having if you're a buff.

Best,

I have the video you are talking about. It is okay. Some of the footage is good, but they tend to stray a bit from the topic. They talk with a Allied pilots, which is okay if you want to see information about Allied pilots. I also think that this may be the one that confuses Jasta 2 with Jasta 11. I have not watched it for a while. I personally think that the A&E biography is better quality, but if you are interested in simply adding more WWI footage to your collection, it is worth a peek.

I just got this one for Christmas. It does confuse Jasta 2 and 11, although its good if your a WWI air war fan.

I was flipping channels the other day, and caught a snip of the "U.10" Fokker D.VII being rolled along less wings, which followed being carried by some Brits. Anyone know where this footage may be available? I think it was on the History channel.

I agree with Rittm on the Red Baron documentary v.s. the A&E show. The A&E is much better.
As for U-10, it ws one of the Fok. D-7's turned over to the Americans after the War.

"U-10" was a Jasta 65 plane flown by Heinz Fr. von Beaulieu-Marconnay (his brother Oliver was a 25 victory ace)when he was shot down and captured near Verdun on Nov.9,1918.
