A couple of researchers (including our Stephanie, when I was in regular contact) have said it's difficult to access East German files because of the emphasis on declassified Stasi documents (who ratted on whom) and the consolidation of E & W records in a centralized facility. Presumably such data will become more accessible in the future.

There is more data available. We just have to be patient while they sort through everything. Mark my words...in about five years or so a new German aviation book will turn up written from first hand sources.
