Do you guys think Udet would have been loyal
to Hittler?

Not very: Udet shot himself in 1941 rather than continue serving Hitler and Goering.

I was under the impression that Udet shot himself because of recurring depression and the fact the Goering and other highly placed Luftwaffe types had realized that his department (I think it was a/c production) was completely mismanaged and were going to sack him. As for his political sympathies/loyalties, I have no idea.

Vigilant: ordinarily that's true. But consider that every member of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff worked for Lyndon Johnson and all but one have remained with the Klinton regime, which came to power acknowledging that it LOATHES the profession of arms.
With VERY few exceptions, people with stars on their shoulders are bought and paid for. Politicians know that and count on it.

From what I have read about Udet I suspect that he probably despised Göring and became a member of the Luftwaffe in a show of patrotism and a blind belief that what he was doing was for the national good.

It also needs to be mentioned that Udet was "saddeled" with Wolfram Richthofen who from all apperances was a toady of Goreings.

With Udets reputation and standing in the German air community he was a nessecary addition to the Nazi regime to try and add credibility to there actions.
