Congratulations, Mary. My own Christmas will be a bit more low-key. Both my wife and I have to work around the holiday, so we won't be travelling the 3600 km necessary to spend the time with family. Instead, we'll have various friends over for dinner Christmas Eve (lobster, king crab, shrimp in wine-garlic sauce, cheese and icewine to finish) and Christmas Day (caviar, foie gras, bourbon-basted turkey, plum pudding, port and stilton, with a nice Australian shiraz to give the meal a kick). And I know there'll be a number of WWI-related books under the Christmas flamingo (don't ask), so I'll be reading and researching when I'm not eating and drinking. I guess it'll be an okay couple of days...

I'll be celebrating Christmas with my parents and brothers. For New Year I'll probably go out into the city and have a few beers (or kegs of beer - haven't decided yet) with my friends.

Other than that I'll be studying and I'm organizing a Gamers convention on the 27th. The rest is all about earning some money.

Kind regards, and merry Christmas

Mary Honey: A big warm (68 degrees F) congratulatory cyberhug from Phoenix. Your engagement will be a wonderful "present" for your family.
Christmas is always a double-triple hectic time in die familia von Tillmann with two birthdays in five days. My Big Five-Oh party was last Saturday 'cause I figger everybody will be otherwise occupied the 24th. However, I did have a wonderful bunch of guests, including those whose aerial combat careers totaled 50 kills, 1 CMH, 1 Silver Star, 9 DFCs, 28 Air Medals, and 2 Purple Hearts.

Well, since I'm unemployed, Jewish, and an agnostic, I guess I'll just do the usual "nothing special". My significant other has the flu, so our planned visit to her mother might be off unless she experiences a "Lourdes" type recovery.
But, on the other hand....
Michael,
Sounds awesome...what's your address? I'll bring paper plates.
Mike

since I have some dead-lines in January for a major project I will take off some days for the family (four at all, I suspect) and will work (at least I will do this from home).

Merry christmas, and Mary: congratulations

I'm new to the forum - the web and to the detailed study of WWI aviation - though I've read about and collected things WWI for years. Not to get gushy - but wanted to thank you all for the help you have offered on some of my questions. It's been great to see so many people interested, knowledgeable and helpful. It's a real encouragment in the 'hobby' - as up here in the Vermont wilderness - there are no bookstores, clubs, hobby shops or people who understand the fact that a World War Two implies a World War One. Also, thanks to you all......and a wonderfully nosey wife who read my thread, I'm getting Above Flanders Fields and a pile of other good WWI aviation 'stuff' day after tomorrow. So its off to wrap presents for the six kids - sit by the fireplace with the wife, listening to the bitter wind work its way through the valley, have some real hot chocolate and look through my new Imperial Russian Air Force book from my in-laws.

Actually I might skip the hot chocolate -a cold sam adams sounds better.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Congratulations Mary, and good luck for the future. This will be my last Christmas as a 'kid' before I hit the dreaded One Eight in February so I better enjoy it.

Have a good Christmas everybody and I look forward to the recommencement of hostilities in the New Year. Just no one mention Billy Bishop.

Congatulations, Mary!

Being Jewish, we don't celebrate X-mas, so we'll do what we usually do - that is - go with the family to an afternoon movie. This year it'll be Tom Hanks in that new movie of his, ...mmm..., oh yes, "Saving MEG Ryan." After that, it's another tradition - trying to find a restaurant that's open X-mas day.

Season's Greetings to all. Have a safe and healthy holiday.

VBR,

Ira
