I'm a rookie in this WWI sky. Therefore, do you have any suggestion or recommendation on which books/titles for me to study about the dogfight history of WWI?
I'm forcus on the event happened and who did it, not the aircraft spec.
Thanks,
William

William!
Firstly-Merry Xmas!
It looks like you need to start with general info
on WW1 aero. The following books give an excellent
all round coverage - if you can get hold of a copy. Any way, here goes......

1) Full Circle - JE Johnson, Pan Books 1964

2) They Fought for the Sky - Quentin Reynolds, Pan Books 1974

3) No Parachute - Arthur Gould Lee, Arrow Books 1969

4) Sagittarius Rising - Cecil Lewis, Penguin Books 1985

There are many other great books out there, waiting to be drooled over, but these should really get you going, especially the last one, it's the best!

Couldn't agree more with that selection, especialy the last one. If you can't find it anywhere else it is currently available on WWW.AMAZON.CO.UK in paperback. And it's cheap too.

I also suggest Winged Victory. Although somewhat dry in places, I think it gives more insight into the psychology of the WWI aviators than most works do.

Graham,

Speaking of Winged Victory, I have searched in vane to find that book - no luck whatsoever. Know where I can find a copy?

Chris,

I got my copy at Barnes and Noble about three years ago. It was a recent "reprint", so I'm surprised that it is hard to come by. I'm not much good at finding old books (except by happenstance), but I'd try the B&N website, and amazon.com.

Chris:

One suggestion: Go to http://www.bibliofind.com and to "search" at that site. You effectively search the catalogs of about 200 booksellers. Prices range from the ridiculous to the more ridiculous - that is - ridiculously cheap to ridiculously expensive. It's incredible but you'll see booksellers selling the same item for 5 times the price, in the same condition listed side by side.

I've filled several gaps in my library at fair prices using their services.

Good luck and good hunting. And Season's Greetings.

Speaking of books: I was in the local Borders today and picked up a copy of Douglas Robinson's "The Zeppelin in Combat," still available from Schiffer. Also I noted my nomination for Most Esoteric Book Subject Ever:
"Luftwaffe aircraft landing gear."
Anybody else come close?
