Mary,
It's the price we pay for getting kids off of torturing puppies and give them computers instead.

As amusing as this little scene may sound to some it would be a shameful statement about the kind of people that the Allies were. I know I would not have tolerated that kind of disrespect for any fallen soldier. You bury him and get on with fighting.

No, Mary this is not a joke. These are stories read by and told to me over the years. What we're talking about here in the MvR context is drunk 20 year olds who don't know if they're going to be alive tomorrow. I'm sure we've all heard about instances of macabre actions and humour. I suppose these days it's akin to the sort of macabre jokes told by people who face death today, doctors, police, firemen etc. I don't see it as unusual, uncomfortable maybe but then we can sit and tut-tut in our armchairs.Getting shot at or seeing a friend burn to death or sitting in a trench and watching the bodies of your friends decompose in nomansland may change our minds somewhat. It's called war and its nasty and it makes people do good and bad things. I don't think it's worth getting excited or upset about - it's history. And again,Rittm, let's not get into a debate as to who were the bad guys and who were the good guys. I'm sure we can all think of actions over the years that each side are not proud of.

Sorry if the above sounds like finger wagging but I assure you these are just MHO. It reads worse than I say it!

Cheers and Happy Christmas, Brad

Here's a pig of Manfred's downed 425/17. I don't see him hanging over it at the tent.... Really stupid to say that the allies would do something to a respected opponent...
good flight to 1999 to everybody... Chris
