Can anyone tell me if there are any model kits of the Rumpler Taube available and where I could get one.

I have one in my "eventually" pile; its a 1/72 vacform from Maquette.(its actually a Jeannin Taube). I believe there is a 1/48 version out there too, but havent seen it. The problem is getting one..I can tell you that mine was from a source overseas, that has a sort of poor track record for promptness. Which is to say, I ordered the model and it showed up at my door more than a YEAR later. So i hesitate to send you in that direction, unless desperate.I think I have seen it listed in 1/48 in one of my catalogs, but with the notation "special order only".

Good news Greg. Two injection molded plastic kits of the Taube are slated for 1999. In 1/48 from "Flashback" (Eduard in false beard and dark glasses), and in 1/72 scale from Pegasus. You will probably find that Hannants are now taking advance orders for both, but what's the rush?

There are also several stick-and-tissue type kits out there if that is your preference. One has a 24" wing span, and the other is larger. Let me know if interested in the makers.

There is also a paper model of the Taub--available
from Paper Models International--that is the
distributor. The company is J.F. Schreiber.
The plane is in 1/50th scale; 8 inches long
(or is that wingspan?) price , $6.00
See PMI's website at www.expresspages.com/p/papermodels. I haven't been
there recently myself but if there is a problem
I have the mailing address (they have a bunch of
other WWI aircraft too if you are interested).
I understand that paper models have a much larger
following in Europe than here in the States.
