The new German Zeppelin concept is maybe the most advanced project but there are some competitors on the way.

In the Netherlands an international group of technicians is developing a Zeppelin of 150 m length and 20 t capacity.

In South Africa the Scott Hamilton, sorry, the "Hamilton Airship" is developing a cargo lifter for the transport of flowers and fruits.

Additional an US-american profesor of the University Illinois is trying to develop a 2 km long Super-Zeppelin for 3000 (!!!) passengers.

Why do Americans so often think "big is beautiful"?

(a) because it is?

(B) because they can see things that tradition-bound "others" cannot?

You choose.

Thanks for the reply, Shooter.

I do not agree with a),
B) is tru but leads not necessarly to gigantism.

Show me a place in a country with densely population where you could land such a monster. Therefore I guess it has more to do with the width of the US (An American described the Netherlands as an bigger airport.), with the fact that more financial power is available for realy giant projects and with the higher American readiness to take risks.

I am still not convinced that a giant Zeppelin is more efficient. The economy of scale has limits.

Sorry, it's me again.

You can find a lot of info and 19 airship manufacturer addresses (mostly with websites) on www.hotairship.com. Webmaster is Roland Escher.
