Yeah,
Get a DNA trace done, Go through regressive hypnosis with a reputable qualified hypnotherapist. And try not to be evasive in answering people's questions. Give facts and not 'teasers'. Don't use smoke and mirrors to try and establish validity in your belief. I'm not being rude, just call me a realist. Let me quote Admiral Arleigh Burke " Reality is a harsh mistress, and if you are afraid to do something, because it is difficult, or it may make you unpopular... then you lose."
VBR,
Jim

Andrew: OK, OK, undoubtedly it WAS me if it involved towels.
I had some correspondence with Adm. Burke many years ago when researching a project. He was most gracious in his reply and very specific about his answers. A genuine torpedo-shooting, Jap-sinking warrior. Folks like that just don't make flag rank anymore.

Jim,
What kind of "facts" are you looking for? I've read as many books as possible that have anything to with me, and only a few memories have any correspondance to what I remember. I remember my girlfriend. She was Werner Voss's sister Margret. I remember getting drunk with Werner at his parents house one warm evening and us singing to her under her bedroom window. She was amused at first and tried to get us to quiet down. She then closed her window in disgust, and Werner and I laughed so hard that we fell down on the ground. I can't find any documentation for memories like that. I can describe what it felt like and the basics of the yard layout, but I don't find the Voss family house plans and yard design in the books about world war I aviation. I tried to get the Werner Voss teenage ace book, but it's not available here. I have memories of my childhood when Lothar and Else or Ilse and I went on some kind of little foot trip. We crossed over a river that we were expressly forbidden to cross. There was a huge tree that had fallen across it and we crossed there. Lothar must have helped Else across and I followed. I slipped and was left hanging on for dear life. Lothar had to come back and reached down with some effort to help me get a leg up. I remember the both of us being scared to death from the experience and we hugged each other for a bit on that log. When we returned to cross the river, we chose another route further up stream where the river was wider but shallow. Lothar was able to hop across from rock to rock with no trouble, but Else couldn't get wet or dirty. The dress was new or special and she would get into trouble, so I volunteered to carry her across. I was about 12 or 14 years old and Lothar had almost caught up to me in size and Else of course was taller and maturing into a woman. I slipped with her on my back and we fell into the water. Lothar of course laughed until he realized that if our parents found out what happened, we would all be in trouble. Else was upset because I think she had something special coming up that she wanted to do and she might not be allowed to do so. I decided to take the blame by saying that Lothar and I were horsing around and Else got into the way and fell into a pond. We told the story to our parents and with some skepticism they believed us and punished me.

Jim, where on earth do I find someone to collaborate that story? Else is dead. Also the area that I remember has probably been altered by WWII or the communists. A DNA test would not work because I am not related to the Richthofens, at least not that my family knows of. I'd be willing to try. I'd try the hypnotist, but I don't know any and I'd be nervous about running into some quack. Got any more ideas.

Jeni,
Yes a bit. I am 5'6". I have dark blonde hair that gets blonde in the summer. My eyes are blue green instead of just blue. My nose and jawline isn't as striking. Nose is still long though. I have the same look in the eyes, same facial expressions, same smile including the crooked one you don't see in many of the pictures. And I have been told by friends who have watched the film footage Manfred that my gestures are the same. I have to take their word on that because I don't have any film footage of myself now to compare to. The photos of Manfred as a child also look similar to the ones of me as a child. The first logical thought was that I could be related, but as far as I know my present family is not related to the Richthofens.

Jeni,
Good idea. That will teach him to impersonate nobility. von is spelled with a small v.

Maybe Von is his middle name. Kinda like
J. Edgar Hoover, or G. Gordon Liddy.
