I have just erturned from an airshow at RAAF base, Point Cook, Victoria, Australia. One of the activities was a "dogfight" between a Fokker Triplane and a Sopwith Pup. Both are replicas. You might want to find out more about the Triplane. If so, I suggest you write to the Air Museum at Point Cook.

Check the following site for some folks who plan to build reproduction Dr.Is with original type engines for about $400 grand a copy. Get 'em while they last!
PS: you might insist that they toss in a free pair of chocks just to ice the deal.

More power(plant) to you Mr. G! I know exactly what you mean about time and money. I have a full size Fokker D7 champing at the bit to be built, but don't have the space or the money to do much more than dream at present. I have seen one guy that overcame these problems. He was into 7/8 scale Nieuport 17's and was putting one together in his bedroom. The only complaint that his wife made was that she did'nt like the engine hanging over her head while she slept! Hubby, being the complete gentleman that he was, swapped sides and slept under the engine. She must have been a very understanding girl. I have the Charles Cash drawings and an up to date set of drawings from Fokker of the D7 cockpit and alot of fittings that would have been common to both a/c. I you have a fax m/c give me your no. & I'll send you a sample.

Les,
I would be VERY interested in purchasing copies of the plans and what info you have on the D-7. I have plans on building one of these too, after the triplane is finished. Please e-mail me at CGrube8326@aol.com.

My parents just bought me a new car. They just wouldn't understand if I asked them for $400,000 for a Fokker Triplane. "But dad, it has a real rotory!"

Jeni you fox: I figured out your dilemma. Tell your folks that you'll split it down the middle: a $200,000 car and a $200,000 airplane. If they balk at that, you can counter with the favorite retort from their favorite politicians: "It's for the children!"

That's a great idea. A quote from their favorite 1st lady.

Hi from another Fokker obsessed person.
I am in the process of building a flying DVII replica.
Have collected enough drawings to build from ( Cash, Kelly and some originals on microfilm). More recently I have contacted a guy in Netherlands who worked for the Fokker company and has some details of many of the individual items like instrument panel, fuel tank etc.
Also have been able to obtain a lot of authentic instrumentation.
Its' early days for my project and I would be very interested in liaising/sharing info with others.

Why a DVII??
Wound up committed to the DVII rather than the Dr.I because of it's flying characteristics, steel tube construction and in-line engine.

Hi Bill.
Yes, to answer your question, all the detail drawings are from Dicke Funke. I have from 1 to 98
but there are some numbers missing in between.
I believe that Dicke has now retired from Fokker
(before it went bust)but it has been some time since I last had contact with him, so there may be
extra drawings available! Must write to him soon.
Will keep you posted.
