Hey you geographical geniuses, my atlas doesn't show two key villages, Roucourt (MvR field) and Murveaux (the Luke thing). Can somebody pinpoint them for me using larger cities? I know the areas but can't find them precicely. Thanks. Wanna go both places soon... 12 DAYS AND COUNTING!! Heh, heh.

Roucourt is a village between Cambrai and very near to Douai. The famous Castle of R. is situated outside the village with a big park an the nearby airfield. When I visited the Castle in 1995 I met a noble and friedly chef-of-the-house.
After some discussion (in French!!!) he willingly showed me the park-side of the house with the "world-famous" stairs (see the picture of Jasta 11 and the FLIEGERVATER (MvR's father) taken in May 1917).

A few years ago Over the Front had an issue containing maps of the entire Western Front pinpointing locations of aerodromes and various sites where aces fell. I'm going to be away from the Internet for about a week so I can't give immediate assistance but perhaps this will jog the memory of someone else who might actually have access to a scanner; or perhaps the League of WW I Aviation Historians site could be helpful.

Murvaux is about 20 miles due north of Verdun. I highly recommend you get the Michelin map of the Argonne Forest area; I used it on a visit about 3 years ago and EVERYTHING is shown. If you can find the book "American Armies and Battlefields in Europe" there is a great deal of information there, including detailed maps. Murvaux is on the Meuse-Argonne map in the 5th Division sector ("5" in a circle). While in the area, the superintendent at the Romagne cemetery will be more than happy to give directions to Luke's grave. I also highly recommend a visit to Ft. Douaumont near Verdun for a remembrance of that gruesome campaign.

Thanks, guys. Found 'em both. Already been to Douamont; will be at Vaux this time. Already have the OTF issue mentioned as well, thanks.
