I thaught we could swap some stories aces fighting aces like Bishop & Richthofen, Eschwege & Green & any other cool subjects.

I also have some ? like did Brumowski ever shoot down an ace & how many balloons did he get?

I've got a neat story about Eschwege not long after he arived at Drama, he began his usual lone wolf patrols it didn't take him very long before he shot down a Farman & soon he became known by the allies as a tough enemy, the Brits had there own local ace G.W.M. Green & Eschwege set out to destroy him. Eschwege knew that the enemy flew a high altatude morning patrol so went try to find Green. Green was out to with a man named Owen & soon Green spotted a lone Fokker below, him signaling to Owen to attack they put there B.E 12's into a dive Green dove below & in front of Eschwege as a decoy while Owen attacked from behind but his gun jammed & Eschwege ignored Green & attacked Owen putting a burst in his fuel tank while Green escaped. Eschwege fought Green several more times but never got him, he finally went back to England & The Eagle of the Aegean was killed.

The best treatment of this subject is Norman Franks'
Who Downed the Aces of WW I?
from Grub Street in the UK. Of necessity, it involves several ace-v-ace combats, though only those fought to a decision. (For instance, the tale of Guynemer letting Udet off the hook owing to jammed guns doesn't apply.) Far as I know, the book's available from Paul Gaudette in Tucson, Arizona.
