Time's list

Is Time magazine going to put out a list of the 100 greatest military personalities of the 20th century,as they have already done in several other categories? If they do,are there any WWI aviation personalities you think should be included in the list?

Boelcke , Boelcke and Boelcke . Histenants of air superiority and aerial combat still hold today and are the basis for most air superiority tactics by all air forces.

It don't matter what we think, if ANYONE from WWI shows up on the list, I'll be surprised. There is so little about WWI in the news today, except when they find something BAD they can blame on someone, I expect anyone from WWI to show up on the "Most Horrible leaders of all time" list.

Knowing Time, the only personalities they might seriously consider from the Great War (aviation-wise) would be Rickenbacker (more for his post war accomplishments) and Billy Mitchell (the Father of Strategic Bombing)....but they'll probably ignore this episode for the most part.

On the subj. of Haig, I've just been reading about the 3rd Ypres (AKA Passchendaele) 1917. OK he prolonged the battle indefencibly, but I'm amazed how the politicians of the time have escaped all blame for the fiascos of the War. They were in charge! If they'd even cared enough to say 'stop' to Haig he would have stopped! But it seems they preferred to sit about worrying about Gotha's and planning the second Gallipoli (as if the 1st one was a raging success!) Most of the above refers to Lloyd-George. Makes me angry, as you may be able to tell!
