I am looking for pics of Oswald Boelcke, the ace I have the most intrest in. Anything Boelcke-related, I would thank anyone to let me know where I can find it.

Thanks, all!
Hans

I agree with you Hans, I have tremendous admiration for Boelcke. I believe he, not MvR, was the greatest of the German fighter pilots. I have "Knight of Germany" with some photos of him in it. If you don't have these already I can scan them for you.

Hans, Also look for Musciano's 'Eagles of the Black Cross'. Many different pictures of Boelcke appear in it. If I remember correctly, even one in which he's wearing the German life saving medal which he was given as a result of French civilians petitioning Berlin for his saving a drowning French boy.

Dear Melinda,

Could you supply me with all the details of "Knight of Germany", like its author, print year etc.. Then I would be able to ask my local bookshops. Boelcke is my favourite too, you know. Thanks.

Kind regards,

Reinout

I think the German book "Boelcke" written bei Prof. Johannes Werner was translated into English.

There is a sum of pages in the net including Info about Boelcke. Look up his bio in "world war 1 - trenches on the web" written by Thorsten Pietsch.

Knight of Germany
by Johannes Werner [ISBN 0-947898-06-9]
The book was originally written in the 20s or 30s. The first English edition was in 1933.The copy I have is from 1985. If you can't find it anywhere else, I think Amazon.Com has it.
