I was recently watching T.V. (It was A gardening show) and the presenter had an interview with a chap called Ted Smoot.
Ted was in the A.I.F. in WW1 and his claim to fame was that he was the first person to MvR's plane after he crashed.

Noe one thing that Ted said was interesting, he said that MvR's torso was charred but his legs and face where o.k.
Getting to the point does anyone have a contact address or phone number for Ted, I think he lives in Victoria(Australia), but I would dearly love to interview him re his experience with MvR. I have contacted the station the show was on but with no result as yet.

Regards,
Andrew Smith.

Mr Smoot is the second person I've heard of that claimed to be the first person to reach MvR.
MvR's legs were not charred, but there was a wound in the right leg that the medical exam missed.
I have to doubt Mr Smoot's claim.
