In an earlier thread on Flying WW1 Aircraft, someone refered to a flying DVII around Sydney/Bankstown area.
Does anyone know any more details about this replica? Perhaps contact details of owner.

Bill,

that was me , have seen it numerous times and it was a regular at airshows when i was young ( 80's ) , it didnt fly from schofields airport so only civilian airport in that area is Bankstown Airport . U might want to try ringing them , am sure someone knows aboutit or at least will remember it. I saw it in 1988 during a flight.

I live in the Bankstown area and I can't say that I've seen it. But there is a company running joy flights called "Red Baron" something or other, based there. They used to fly red Tiger Moths in the 80's but for the last few years fang about in Pitts Specials.

I am pretty sure the aircraft you are reffering to was a replica DR1 triplane, it came to Ausralia during the 80s from the States on a promotion for Pacific film.It was seen at various airshows with a replica Sopwith Pup. I think I read that the triplane is in a museum in Victoria now. I have never heard of a D7, replica or real seen in Australia. Mark
