"Yeah, it was a dumb idea"
There you have it, Boys and Girls. By his own admission, John is credited with the first dumb idea of the new millenium. We now have only 999 years and 363 days to top it.
And have the rest of you forgotten the original kiddie show sex symbol, Princess Summerfallwinterspring a.k.a. Judy Tyler?????

Well, outside of the facts that 1. It was posted on 30 December, 1999 and 2. The new Milennium does not begin until 1-1-2001 I guess I asked for it.
What I'm after is vernacular pertaining to Aerodromes, Aviation and Personnel of the WW-I era. My particular field is armament and rotary engines. I once had a small book written by Victor Page that had most of the terms I'm seeking, but I can no longer find it among my colossal pile of misc. material.
When I drop dead, one of you guys can rummage through it, but remember to bring a shovel (or a backhoe.)

John L:

I have a 1918 copy of Page's "The A. B. C. of Aviation," which has a 12 page chapter on Standard Airplane Nomenclature, subheaded "Definitions of All Terms Used in Connection with Aviation Approved by National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics."

Contact me off-line if this is what you are looking for.

VBR,

Ira

The term for a windsock (which sounds more like a weathervane than a windsock) was "effel" which stood for French Letter. It looked like the letter T laying on it's side so that the top part of the T always pointed into the wind.
