Just FYI... my letter to Hans Hooker at the American Embassy in Paris.

Hello Mr. Hooker!

As you may recall, we had quite a bit of correspondence this past spring re: the restoration of the monument to 2Lt. Frank Luke (27th Aero Sqdn, 1918) in Murvaux, France. I am leaving for North Africa on Sunday, and on my return I will be passing through Paris on or near January 27th. If possible, I'd like to stop at the embassy and see if anyone has any updates regarding the project, and of course, put in whatever meager lobbying effort I can. Mostly just an information gathering mission, though. I have contacted Serge Colin, the mayor of Murvaux, without success, and can pass along all the details later. Just wanted to let you know I'd be passing that way and wondered if I might be wise to stop in.

Happy holidays,

Stephen Skinner

Members: I'll be meeting with one of the staff members of the American Battle Monuments Commission who oversees private monuments on Jan 27th in Paris . Dunno what can be done, but it beats sitting around and waiting. Will let ya know if anything comes of it in early Feb. Maybe they can light a fire under the French for us.
