Peter,

I have Winged Victory and think it is great! I agree that the "Mac" in the book was indeed modeled after MacLaren, as he and Yeates were squadron mates. Thanks. I'm sort of surprised that there are no biographical works on MacLaren, but I haven't found any ... am I mistaken?

I get my books from Brian Cocks of Peterborough England. E mail brianc@bookhouse.nildram.cxo.uk
Send £2 to receive book list but he likes to receive 'Wants'.
Arch Whitehouse met McLaren at a reunion in the 60's I think. He lived into his 90's. McLaren that is. Good Hunting.

Canada's Fighting Airmen by Lt-Col. G.A.Drew.
Maclean Pub. Co. Canada 1931. 305 pp,28 photos.
Described as scarce account of the careers of, Bishop, Collishaw,Barker, Maclaren, McCleod, Rogers, McElroy, Claxton, McCall, Quigley, Carter & McKeever. Very pricey £60. approx $90. In May 99 catalogue but not in Nov. 99
Probably wouldn't give you enough detail anyway.
Regards

You may wish to check out this site. I found that there is quite a good selection of books and periodicals listed for WW1. You may not be able to get to Alibama, but at least you can find the names, authors and publishers of books:
