A Coincidence ?

Has anyone noticed the similarity between the leaping reindeer U.S. Christmas stamp and the leaping stag emblem Karl Degelow used as a personal marking on all his planes?

Maybe there is a Degelow fan at the U.S. Postal Service.

Or maybe a fan of the ace Windisch who was using the leaping stag (who was called "White Stag" in fact) as well.

Another theory: A leading member of the U.S. postal service was visiting Dresden and especially the hillside area there called "Weißer Hirsch" (White stag).

Degelow and Windisch were in the hospital there and Immelmann played in his youth there and Loerzer owned a hous there as well.

On the opposite side of the river you can find the cemetery with the Immelmann monument in the cemetery which was also resting place for the aces Baldamus and Wüsthoff.
