Leo,
Try hitting "0" in the numbers on the main keyboard. Watch the tach as you do this and see if you get an increase in rpm. If you get an increase you may need to re-calibrate your stick. M/S sticks are notorious for this. sometimes "full Throotle" doesn't actually get you all the power that is available. Just a thought-had this problem with my M/S.

Regards,
Steve

I got the Red Baron II recently and have had a great time. Knowing little about these games, (and less about the machines that run them )I tend to crash, get lost and end up nose down in the mud on the wrong side of the lines.

I have also been playing it on the key board. Not knowing anything about "joysticks" I hope that some one out there could recommend one to me. Also, which game have folks enjoyed more, RBII or RB 3-D?

By all means, get the RB3D disk. It gives 3D graphics (3Dfx only) support and cleans up a lot of bugs from the original RB2 release. It is also better than the RB2 disk + downloaded upgrade patch (if it is even still around).

Joystick will change the game for you. Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that the Microsoft Precision Pro stick is a decent value. It is not terribly expensive; it works well; it provides rudder control (twist-stick); it is easy to set up. However, as someone mentioned, the throttle dial cannot be relied upon, so use the 1-10 keyboard numerics to control throttle.

Tom, I've played all the sims and I enjoyed the Oringinal RB best but it will not play on new computers. The closest to it and the best flight models I have found is SimGuild's Flying Circus a Mondoplayer online Sim that you fly against many other players. Its cheap to play too. $10 a month for 40hrs and if you play more than that its .25 cents per hour. THATS CHEAP. Its flight models are great and they are planing a major makeover as soon as they finish their Battle of Britian Sim. On the Allied side you can choose to fly the Sopwith Camel, Nieuport 28, and the Spad XIII. On the Central powers side you can fly the Fokker Dr1,Pfalz DIII, and Albatross DIII. Try it and maybe I will see you online . I fly with the Flying Tiger Squadron (FTs). Usually on the Allied side.I am basing the flight models on my experiance with real aeroplanes. I own and fly a repo Nie.16B.

If you like RB but have a thirst for better graphics and historically painted aircraft/unit markings you will love my patches. I have one which encompasses the entire war : Wingstrut 2.2.
Also, I have another separate patch : USAS.

Wingstrut 2.2 has everthing from Belgian units to Schlasta units with histoical markings and schemes. You won't find any other patch that can match the volume and content of historically painted aircraft.

USAS patch is intended to be played from April 1918 till end of war and it adds nearly every USAS unit to see combat and about 10 more US aces with historical schemes for all.

First thing you need to do is download the Campaign Manager program which will allow you to set up and use various programs.

Below is the link. If it does not show as link just copy it into your location bar to go to the site. Be sure to check out everything.
