Illustration taken from Internet Modeller October 99 issue. Well worth a look

Jasta 18 aircraft have been featured options in the 1/28 Revell and 1/48 Dragon/DML DVII kits. Three examples adorn the cover of the Windsock Datafile on the type. Though most agree that the basic finish, as so often on these occasions opinions differ on the detail. The wings are variously described as :
a) Upper and lower wings red on both surfaces
B) Upper and lower wings red on upper surface, lozenge beneath
c) Upper wing only red on upper surface, remaining wing surfaces lozenge.
d) All wing surfaces printed lozenge fabric.

Myself I lean towards option c), but it's your aeroplane and a real aeroplane not a model, whatever colour you paint it will be correct for that machine from now until forever.

p.s. My personal favourite would be Jastafuhrer Raben's own machine. Red overall except for an all white tail, just the tail and not the entire rear fuselage as in the example, and Jasta's raven insignia in white on the fuselage sides.

According to the small book/magazine of Jasta 18 by late A E Ferko the photo of this DVII belonged to Jasta Raben but he could not verify to which pilot..
But Ferkos book was written 1986 and new information perhaps has identified it as Raben own aircraft.

My Gallery
Here is one of the profiles from my page. Red tail stripes on the elevators are not shown. Figure out what engine panel arrangement you have before matching it up with a profile, scheme, or photo you want to do if you really want to try to keep it historical. There were many variations. Also, the white paint faded on a lot of the machines if you look at original photos of some of the unit planes. They make for good weathering effects for a modeler. http://members.xoom.com/_XMCM/wingstrut/D7J18.jpg

Sorry Peter
I focused on the picture, not the text.
There is a photo of Raben own Fokker Dr.1 on page 32 in the Ferko book.
