As a poor student i can't afford to upgrade my computer so have to make do with RB1 and flying corps. Mind you i did manage to get 138 kills in RB1! That is with all the hardest settings, except mid-air collisons, as those damn hun just ram you!

Yeah, go ahead and blame those dead European males......
That's why I keep peering behind my monitor. No way those *&#@#$% are gonna sneak up on me.

yes, the unpatched RBII does seem kinda easy. In fact it was not unusual for me to average, if I was lucky of course, 4 to 7 victories per sortie on all the difficulty settings. The most I ever got was 14 balloons in one mission and a two-seater. But, I should hope that the 3d update was more difficult. At the moment I can't upgrade--and I got the impression the whole WON thing is useless unless you've got the 3d card. I would, for one, dearly love to get shot down by a worthy opponent, but no such luck at this time. I'd like to say that bagging four or five on RBII was difficult, but it's actually not that hard... especially if you're so ruthless as to follow a flight of six Rumplers back to their aerodrome. and yes, the rockets are pretty outrageous... two well-placed shots can actually cripple a Gotha! Something's wrong with this picture, hmmm? Is it just me, or would Gotha's be the hardest things out there--I'm pretty good at it and I've never been able to burn more than a pair of them in a mission--think my all time record was three. Does anybody here know how many Gothas were actually shot down during the war... it can't have been very many!
thanks for putting up with the big post.
Jarrod
hopefully one day I can be shot down by the likes of all of you-- all I need is money

It is with great pride that we announce that the aforementioned Lt. Percival Bligh-Nelson downed his 20th Hun on Jan. 4, 1917 and received the VC from His Majesty's grateful government for gallantry and valor in action against the enemy.
"Damn, I'm good!" - P. Bligh-Nelson

Rb's standards are slipping, you need at least 50 kills on RB1 to get the VC! Your pilot is not related to Bishop by any chance...

Mark,
Nope. He's just fighting against a higher caliber of German aviator. Also, he's flying Nieuport 11s and 17s. Half the time he makes it home with half a wing.
On the other hand, how could His Majesty's Gummint refuse to award a VC to a man carrying the names of Bligh and Nelson? Why, it would be a slap in the face of history, old chap.

You guys think you got problems. HA! I bought RBII thinking I would learn the basics before jumping into the 3D fray with the rest of you. Nothing works right. The only way I can get the engine to start is auto-pilot. I have yet to successfully land (been killed in a crash landing every time) and none of the keys respond the way they're supposed to. After what I thought was my most successful mission I learned I had flown in a circle and destroyed my own aerodrome.

If I were flying for the Japanese I'd have to commit hara kiri except I've never survived a landing.

In the words of the Old Philosopher, "Never give up, never give up, never give up THAT SHIP!".

Shame faced but signing my own name anyway

Kirby,
My girlfriend was standing behind me when I read your posts.
Her response? "You guys need to get a life."
But we know better, don't we?
VBR,
Mike
PS: Have you tried enlisting in the Serbian air force? After all, they started the whole bloody affair.
