I want to relate on the question about the AH losses during WWI posted by Leo on November 11.
I believe that some of the data posted to Leo were lost in cyberspace. I said that the Official List issued immediately after the war by the Italian Army Air Force vouches 633 victories against aircraft and draken. To this figure must be added the confirmed victories of Italian Navy (132), and AAA (100). We can speak about the methods to confirm a victory, stricter than other aviations, but I believe that this data are not so wrong. As I said to Leo, every aviation used their own methods. I believe that the Brit's claim are exaggerated. I want not to blame our old ally, I want only to say that they, like other aviations, had their parameters. Would be long here to say how the Italian aviation confirmed the victories during WWI, but if someone is interested, I'm here.
Very best regards
Paolo

Paolo

Glad to se you back on the Forum. I am interested in what way/how the Italian confirmation system was built up.

What I have heard earlier the Italian Air Force did not have any Offficial confirmation system during the War but made it shortly after(1919).

If you presents the backgrounds of this system it surely would make some people who are interested in aviation history more happy.

I eagerly awaits Your and Robertos book about Italian Aviation squadrons every Day...

Hi Paolo,
though I am not as deeply interested into the actual confirmation-system, I am always eager to learn more. And be assured that any new perspective is much welcome here, especially if it centers on the (here) more neglected Italian frontier.

regards

Axel
