I remember when I was in the Army (1974-78)I was taught that an "assault rifle" was a weapon with a selective fire switch. The M16A1 that I used, had three settings, safe, semi, and FUN!!!
Later, after I was out of the Army, I remembered how much fun it was to shoot the M16, even on just the semi setting. So I bought an AR-15. Now some bozo in the local news is trying to tell me that I have an assault rifle. I told him he's full of it, and should check his sources.
First time visitors to my home are always shocked, since they can see my "assault rifle" displayed in a locked rifle rack with an empty 30 round magazine in it.
I constantly get the question of "is that legal in this state?" Well, of course it is. (I live in Illinois, private ownership of full auto weapons is illegal). Then I go through the rest of the story.
But I really love freaking out our "liberal friends" when they come to visit. That's when I put the Japanese Arisaka with the long bayonet and a real Japanese battle flag (complete with blood stains) tied to it, on the rack.
To bad I don't hunt, I'd probably have a few trophy heads to piss them off too.
