Have no table with German balloon losses for 1914 but found the following in 8.Sonderband:

French aircraft surprised and shot down the balloon of the Bavarian Festungs-Luftschiffertrupp 1 (Oblt. Oldenburg KIA) on 1.September.

1 balloon was destroyed on the ground by artillery during the siege of Antwerpen.

27.October 1914: 1 balloon was flammed by the Russians.

During the battle in Flanders (October/November) 4 German balloons were damaged and 2 observer injured. (One balloon and one observer were hit by splinters of artillery shells on 1.November 1914. One balloon was attacked by a French pilot with "containers with burning fuel". - ?)

Other attacks were not so successful, e.g.:
On 25.August 1914 a French aircraft dropped steel arrows on the balloon of Bavarian Feld-Luftschiffer-Abteilung, which was damaged but not destroyed.

On 8.September the balloon of Feld-Luftschiffer-Abteilung 2 was shelled by artillery and 5 times attacked with bombs by French aircraft without success. The balloon of Feld-Luftschiffer-Abteilung 3 near La Moison Blanche was shelled too and attacked by an enemy aircraft on the same day.

On 27.September 3 enemy aircraft attacked the balloon of Feld-Luftschiffer-Abteilung 1 with arrows, which was only temporarly sinking.

Hi Hannes
I dont have so much to contribute with but Oblt Albrecht Oldenburg was reported killed at Avocourt in the Eberhardt list.
I have a note from LGA that the French claimed 2 Ballons this Year...no more regarding this claims...

BTW, since you're on the topic; when were Le Prieur rockets introduced and how successful were they?

Rosebud,
I guess some of the owners of older OTF and Windsock magazines can answer your question.

Thanks Bill,
I know the Neumann numbers for 1914/15 (maybe also quotated by Hoeppner): 30 balloons lost (3 by aircraft attacks, 10 by artillery and 17 by accidents, bad weather) but I would like to split this numbers in 1914 and 1915 data (like the Flak victories in another thread before). Additional these numbers are not including the Bavarian "Luftschiffer"!
