Hi
I also have some German Army Air losses for September 1918 as follows:
The German lost 107 a/c on the Western front and 3 on other fronts. 103 Ballons were also lost, all on the Western front.
44 of these were lost in Air combat on the Western front and 2 on other fronts. Of the aircraft lost in Air combat on the Western front fell 32 a/c within German lines 12 over Enemy lines.
Besides were 44 a/c reported as missing on the Western front and 1 on other fronts.
10 a/c were lost due enemy Flak, 4 of these within German lines and 6 over enemy lines.
Also 9 a/c were reported lost due enemy ground fire, all of these on the Western front.
So 46 + 45 + 10 + 9 = Total loss = 110.
But the same reservation as mentioned before must be made.. So we can calculate with about 220 losses without closer examination..
Unfortunate i cant find the losses for the Naval Air Service this month yet in my notes.

Kind sirs: Request is made to all statisticians, providers of numbers, and calculators of casualties to reference-repeat reference-the data, by giving the name of the document referenced, the author of the work, the publisher, if any, the pages on which the data may be found, and the year of publication. Reason: So we can check references. Example: ssomeone stated that in one month 103 German balloons were destroyed. I don't think the Germans had that many balloons on the line at any time; and that 103 figure is a typo. Can you statistical bloodhounds check this out? Kindest regards/Billy H/10/29/99.

To Billy
The victories and losses for April 1917 and Sept 1918 is the Official German Monthly list which was published in Daily Newspapers during the War. It was also published in the "Nachrichtenblätter", The Heeresbericht , The Magazine Flugsport and also a also in some other sources during and after the War. I also saw an earlier note that in this Forum that some foreign sources like the Times published this lists.
Regarding German Naval Air Force the figures is taken from the Naval "Nachrichtenblatt" which published monthly list for most months 1918.
Regarding the ballon losses You must concern that some German Ballon Companies could lose the their ballon a couple of times during a specific period, like a month.

The 103 German Army ballon losses for September is only the which actually was flamed.
You must added the ballons which were damaged. It has been discussed earlier in this Forum and I leaved all statistic material for the War.
In General terms the German Army lossed nearly the same total which were damaged and could not be repaired as those who was flamed.
So infact the German Army ballon losses included those damaged(not repairable) "could" be around 200 for September 1918.
According to known allied ballon claims this month it is not an unbelievable figure..
September 1918 was infact an extreme month in some espects..
