He certainly would (already?} have been trained on the Curtiss OX-5, the Hall-Scott, and possibly the Liberty engines as well as the various Le Rhone, Gnome and Bentley engines.
I've searched the web for weeks but I cannot find a copy of Aviation Engines by Victor W. Page, which would give more details. Page was an instructor at Issodoun, which may have been his next stop.
