It just happens that on a recent visit to the Public Record Office in Great Britain I found several documents relating to Russian awards to British fliers, one of whom I THINK was Collishaw. I say "I THINK" because I asked for about 1,700 pages of documents to be copied, and they are still in the mails from Britain to Canada (shipped on 4 October and expected here about 21 October). So I might have an answer for you. Collishaw (and others) were, of course, decorated by WHITE RUSSIAN commanders for their contributions to Allied intervention in South Russia against the BOLSHEVIKS. Pending more information from myself, you might consult AIR COMMAND, published by Canada's Wings some 27 years ago - nominally the memoires of Raymond Collishaw (though largely ghost-written by R.V. Doods).

Ray Collishaw recieved three Czarist medals, Order of St. Anne 2 cl, Order of St. Stanislas 2 cl, and the Order of St. Vladimir 4 cl; for his service fighting commies in 1919. He was one hellava pilot. Too bad most Canadians dont know even know who he was. Some other guy, Billy somebody or other, got all the press.

Thanks for the info everyone. I must presume that Mr. Collishaw was not the only British/Canadian etc pilot flying with the Whites. Rosebud, Where did you get your info. Hugh, I'd like to know what those documents your getting Have to say.

All,
Canada had 60 pilots who went to Russia with the Brits. 4 were KIA, 6 killed in accidents and another 6-8 wounded.
Going from memory up there so might be a casualty or two out. I'll look it up when I get home tonight.
regards
Darryl
