I doing a research paper on America's early involvement in the Air War, 1914-1917. Can anyone direct me to some good primary and secondary sources. It can deal with any of the foreign air corps/forces. Thanks for your assistance.

Hugh Halliday's database of Honours and Awards to Canadians in the RFC/RAF contains a number of Americans.

You'll probably find Herbert Molloy Mason's "Lafayette Escadrille" to be quite commonly available through Inter-Library Loan. HMM gives a generalized depiction of the air unit that was the definitive example of early participation in WWI by aviators from the U.S. It also contains a most discomfiting image of the authors lack of specific knowledge as he identifies what is obviously the burned wreckage of a SPAD a/c (a V-8 engine is obvious in the photo)as that of a Morane which didn't use the Hispano-Suiza V-8 engine depicted. It's major virtue is that it is a book probably readily available to you. Good luck. Lee Edw. Branch
