Hey guys....what a great site...

So the debate rages on....proof,... as part of my research into the Mick and nationality question, I discovered this interesting twist.

His Mother, from Ballincollig, did not technically give birth in the parish, therfore his actual birth registration is on record at the next parrish over!!!. Working from my Los Angeles base, I contracted an investigator, initially to find a copy of the book by Ira Jones printed 1934, "King of the Air Fighters" as part of my research for the screenplay "ACE". The book was found in Dublin, after three years!!

He also found that his Mother had a sister living on a farm approx 20 mile outside of Ballincollig and a register from the local church dates an Edward, born of O'Sullivan 1887 (this may be either a sisters child or Mick)

I continue to to research and will keep everyone informed.

My initial interest in this is that my great grandfather was Edward 'Spider' Atkinson with Sqdn 56.

Regards

Spider

If your trying to find where Mick was born....It was Cork. A couple of months ago a gentleman here(Peter L?) posted a birth certificate? Or somehting like that. He WAS born in Cork.

It was Paul Reece who posted Mick's Aero Club "ticket". Mick himself had written "Cork" in the place of birth section, so we took that as fairly conclusive!

You probably won't want to hear that I stumbled across King of Air Fighters last year for a fiver

Vig.

The aviator certificate mentioned above is available for viewing at Paul Reese's corner of the WWW.
