looking at the massive outcry over the Second Amendment controversy I ask myself....

is this a troller?

a troller may be low on the hacking ladder, but is quite disruptive. A troller delibrately makes messages to forums/newsgroups which are relatively on-subject but are meant to cause angry responses.

for more info on trolling, head to:

aka - The Subtle Art of Trolling

btw I personally am not a troller nor very much of a hacker.

I don't beleive the current debate falls into that category, though this thread might. There is no doubt that John L and his cohorts feel strongly on this subject, I just feel the debate would be better conducted elsewhere. I also find it difficult as a European to understand how all this heat can be generated and yet no light, but that's my problem.
The Forum has however been victim to these tactics. We may remember that I got into a spat for accusing someone called Bud of exactly this sort of provocation. All it got me was flak.

Kirby, are you trolling or still fishing?
I also feel very strongly on the subject of certain well known personalities of the past loading belts of incendiery in their guns. Frankly, I think that act was unforgivable.
I also feel very strongly on the topic of "Burling" Jarett, whom everyone has brain fade about. And wing spars that some boob has patched together with wood glue and pins. And "Actual" aerial photos of WW-I combat that are obviously heavily retouched. And Aero Historians who have not changed an opinion for 40-some years on the bravery of MvR, and fail to mention that his DR-1 was CUSTOM built for him by Fokker with special fabric, etc. Also that he sat on a parachute and was, personally, an off-beat personality. Misogamist, I believe you could say, to be kind about it. Would you rather see rousingly BORING threads about people long dead who are being fictionalized, or perhaps a rousing discussion on the various merits and demerits of ash tailskids vs those of oak? Don't rip your fabric, everything will be back to nothing but the stuff that gives Forumites orgasms, in short order.
I know, I know, this forum was designed for the discussion of... By the same token, this Country was designed to allow freedom of speech, public expression of thought and debate.
Do you remember your journalism class? "The kernel of the story?" First, write a sentence that defines a conflict. Where's the fault? America could very well be just 3 months away from disaster (Y2K) and all I hear is the sound of sad violin music. When MvR received his (cal.303) long overdue repayment, his last thought was, beyond doubt, "This can't be happening to me!" But it sure enough was.
To Kirby and his cohorts: Go back to sleep.

People are more perceptive than you think....

Manic or Bipolar State: A person feels total "euphoria" and strength. However, in the early stages of the illness, the person may appear to be more sociable, active, talkative, self-confident, perceptive, and creative than usual. As his/her mood elevates, he or she may experience some or all of the following:
-increased stength and energy, decreased sleep
-extreme irritability
-rapid, unpredictable emotional changes
-racing thoughts, flight of ideas
-increased interest in activities, overspending
-grandiosity, inflated self-esteem
-increased sexual drive
-poor judgment

Hammer, you are really the anvil. Here's a perception for you: Count the number of off topic responses by your old pals, the regulars, vs the smaller number by the newcomers in the last six months. Geez, you win hands down!

John

What in the world are you talking about? Are you sure this should be addressed to me? I have not said anything about these subjects. Please check again.

Having given this considerable thought I can only assume that you think I started this thread. I did not. Please have the decency to explain to me just what you mean by addressing me the way you did.
