It never hurts to post this request again. I am trying to collect as much information as I can about the manufacturing of WWI era propellers for a book about the subject. I am particularly interested in information that will assist in identifying props by drawing number. Any help will be gratefully acknowledged. (Yes, I have tried all of the major museums; they are supportive of this project because they don't have what I'm looking for)

There are loads of files on propellers from WW1
in the UK Public records office. Search under
propeller, propellers I haven't tried airscrew or airscrews but they are also a possibility.

In the 1919 edition of "Dyke's Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia" there is a WW-I Aircraft section that shows a propeller being turned out on a modified metal turning lathe with a tracer attachment. There is also information on the Gnome Aero Engine, etc. (Don't even ask...probably from a rare technical book dealer, or have your regular book dealer advertise in their "Wanted" publication.} You'll find that looking this particular book up is a worthwhile reference source of WW-I equipment.

Dave,

The British propellors book is a Windsock Datafile. One place to find it is Hannan's Runway (www.hrunway.com). Click on "Windsock Datafiles". I just checked the site, which has recently been overhauled - I'd have come back here sooner, but the page loaded slowly, and I was busy drooling over all the volumes I don't have yet!
