I've only been a Forumite since April, and since the Archives have gone for a Burton I can't do further research, but it seems to me that if you want to get a "hot thread" going all you have to do is:

a) Attack or be perceived to be attacking the first or second amendments to the U.S. Constitution

B) Advance any claim on behalf of any pilot in the demise of MvR

c) Attack Billy Bishop

Have I missed any?

Given that it's taken AL's mega-thread four months to get to 449, Mike Baram's thread at 88 in 6 days is incredible.

However, my perception is that these "hot threads"
"flameout" (pun intended) fairly quickly.

And congratulations Michael, you've managed to get all three in one thread. This one could run and run.

Oh yes, how could I have forgotten Frank Luke? Or is he a subset of the second amendment?

Oh dear, I've really done it now.

Michael,
By the way don't forget to include...

1. If you post any negative views about MvR expect some incoming rounds!

2. If you post facts about Germany's responsibility for starting WW1 expect hostile fire!

3. If you post reasons why IGAF records are not good sources for confirming Entente Ace's victory scores, expect incoming hostile fire.

4. Be prepared to receive personal attacks telling you that you're hateful and delusional, and suggestions to go to other websites to post your views.

5. Never, NEVER tell someone who thinks they are the reincarnation of a famous WW1 ace that they are nuts, due to lack of proof.

In light of what I've experienced in the past 10 months of coming to this forum, I was seriously beginning to wonder if it was for MvR and IGAF sycophants only.
VBR,
Jim

If you gentlemen will do one thing for me, I feel that it will put WW-I aviation history ahead by orders of magnitude. (This is why I came here in the first place.) Punch up "Internet Mental Health" and download (2 pages) Posttraumatic Stress Disorder American Description. Then re-read the last chapter of "War Birds, Diary of an Unknown Aviator" by E. W. Springs. Then review the thread on was MvR fit to fly. I'm wwilling to bet that one of you will be able to write a book on this aspect of War I aviation alone.
Yes, I have it, and I take Prozac. But I can't get it out of my head that I'm a re-incarnation of a Gnome cylinder blown off early in the war.

Would that be actions involving Interns or freeing terrorists?

So, let me get this straight...

Richthofen (that dirty Hun who raped Belgian nurses) was actually shot down by W.A. Bishop, but unfortunately the claim form was lost when Frank Luke foolishly attacked 85 Squadron's offices with Buckingham and Brock ammunition on his way to a balloon. German records indicate no verification of the claim either, which is irrelevant since Richthofen is actually still alive and living somewhere in the U.S., where he currently sells fully-automatic weapons to school children.

Err, is that about right?
