When I was a police officer with the city of Leawood, Kansas I was required to carry a weapon off duty. It was a real pain in the ass.(once my S.W model 25 fell out of my shoulder hoster and landed on a crowded dance floor) To rebel against what I thought was a crazy rule, I started carrying a 1851 Colt Navy.
I do feel that private citzens should be allowed to carry concealed weapons. It sure does help prevent crime.
... And what the heck, I could even have a good reason to go buy an old Colt Navy.

"when have you ever heard of innocent bypassers killed accidently by a knifing between rivaling gangs?"
How about Lou Marsh? He was a social worker in the sixties. He tried to stop a fight between rival gangs and was stabbed to death. I know it's ancient history, but if Lou had possessed a firearm, it might have been enough to stop the fight and keep the bums at bay until the police arrived. (Speculation, I know.)
Recently a wacko burst into a shooting range (YES, A SHOOTING RANGE) in San Leandro, CA, with a gun, grabbed three hostages and threatened to kill them and himself. An employee grabbed a nearby pistol, and drilled the SOB on the spot, killing one nut and saving three lives.
If that guy had burst into a store or community center where no one was armed, and carried out his threat, there would have been at least four corpses.
Res ipse loquitor.

America is a violent society? Right?????
Our football fans don't riot after games. We don't have to put a moat and a chain fence around the field like they do in Sao Paolo to protect the players and the referees.
In the eighties, British soccer fans rioted in Italy, killing a couple of Italian bystanders.
And England and Brazil are countries where people can't have arms.
Just some grist for the mill, Folks.

I think bathtubs should be outlawed in the US.Especially multiple bathtubs,or bathtubs that can be converted to Jacuzzi-rapidity with the flick of a switch.
Bathtub injuries > bystander gun injuries???documentation needed! Otherwise, its flat-B.S. from yet another person whos never been to the inner city. VBR, VOH

In Finland every citizen is required to own a firearm and some even have mortars(yes mortars) as well as Swiss citizens.THEY are not running around killing each other! So is it really the guns?(It's nice to hear from law enforcement folks that they don't have a problem with CCW!)
blue skies,
Dan

Do the Fins keep their Swiss citizens in the same cupboard as their mortars ?

Vin,
Don't be silly. Finnish cupboards are too small to hold Swiss citizens AND mortars. They keep the Swiss citizens in the saunas, since they aren't prone to rust. I thought you knew that.
VBR,
Mike

I thought the Swiss kept the Finns in their army knives.

Congress shall pass no law abridging the right to degenerate to lunacy....and we're drastically close to the precipice now.
